The Eastern myth is that the two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. This is similar to the Western concept of a soulmate or a destined partner.

However, I am not just talking about lovers or soulmates.

This is a little story about why I named my brand Red Thread. My godmother adopted a baby girl from China and raised her with her husband. I distinctly remember a black and white photo they took of all of them holding onto a red ribbon together, which was the only thing in color. It was a beautiful photo that reflects their beautiful connection to one another. Sadly, my godmother passed away from cancer when I was just starting college. I wanted a way to do something that would reflect how she supported me and the other people who have made an impact on my life. She was a believer in this connection to others and fate. No matter where life takes us, there is a red thread of fate that connects us to the ones we love and the things that we are meant to do. No matter what.

What is Red Thread?
Why the red thread of fate?

Pikake – The Flower of Love

Delicate and fragrant, pikake—also known as Hawaiian jasmine or Arabian jasmine—is a timeless symbol of love, romance, and celebration. Beloved for its sweet, seductive scent, this cherished blossom is often associated with confidence, attraction, and emotional warmth.

The name pikake holds a special place in Hawaiian history. In the late 1800s, Princess Kaʻiulani, the last heir to the Hawaiian throne, adored both this beautiful flower and her flock of pet peacocks who rested under the bushes. She named the blossom pikake, the Hawaiian word for “peacock,” forever linking the flower to beauty, grace, and nobility. Although not native to Hawai‘i, the pikake flower originates from Southeast Asia and India and was introduced to the islands in the 19th century, likely through trade. Once it arrived, it quickly became a beloved part of Hawaiian culture. Its alluring fragrance and delicate form made it a natural choice for leis, especially those worn at weddings, graduations, and other meaningful milestones.

Pikake is often woven into leis and worn close to the skin, allowing its scent to gently release throughout the day. For many in Hawai‘i, its fragrance evokes cherished memories of family, love, and celebration. Today, the pikake flower remains a powerful symbol of affection and aloha, offering beauty and meaning in every bloom.

Pikake jewelry makes a thoughtful gift for loved ones or a special keepsake to mark life’s most memorable moments.

Whether worn or shared, it brings a touch of aloha and heartfelt connection to any occasion.
